The Rose

The L0veVibe Global Meditation of Sunday August 30, 2009 will focus on the symbol of the Rose.

We invite you to integrate this symbol into your regular meditation practice, or even to devote your session to it. Please remember the purpose is connection, so if you do not resonate with any given symbol presented here, then feel free to choose your own. The Rose is known for its beauty and fragrance and has a long history of symbolism. "Rose" means "red" or "pink" or "flower" in a variety of languages. Many nations and states have taken the Rose as their symbol.


In ancient Greek and Roman culture, the Rose was identified with the Goddess of Love, Aphrodite and Venus respectively. In Christianity the Rose had several meanings and is also associated with the Virgin Mary. Japanese wild Rose symbolizes recovery from agony. Worldwide, the Rose remains a symbol of Love and perpetually renewed, graceful Beauty.


The Rose flower is often used in healing methods like color and aroma therapy, even just by blanketing rose petals around the bathing scene. Essential Rose oil from Rose flowers is used in perfume. Rose water and Rose syrup derived from Rose oil is used as a culinary ingredient. The fruit of the Rose, called "Rose hips," is made into marmalade or tea for the high Vitamin C content.
